I am related to this family. Walter's father was Alonzo Bartholomew Greaves b. 5 Sept 1826 Lake Lock, Stanley, Yorkshire/Mother was Mary (no middle name) Wright b. 22 Jan 1826 Middleton, Yorkshire. Married 24 Feb 1846 @ Parish Church, Wakefield, Yorkshire. Walter was born 28 Oct 1851 @ Lake Lock, Stanley, Yorkshire. They immigrated to US about 1851 - Alonzo was missing on the 1851 census, perhaps they traveled separately due to Walter's birth.
Alonzo's parents, James & Ann (Morton) Greaves. James and Alonzo were carpenters ("joiners"), traveled across England and Wales for large construction projects. Worked on Conwy and Britannia Bridges. James' parents John Greaves and Ann Tracy or Anne Tracey. Tracey is a common name throughout family and tied to her surname.
