This probably refers to the change from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar which happened in 1751. In the Julian calendar the church year began on Lady Day 25th March and ran to the 24th March in the following year. The Gregorian Calendar ran from 1st January to 31st December except in 1751 when the year started on 25th March and ended on 31st December to "catch up". For years before 1750 the dates from 1st January to 24th March only were shown as 1746/1747 for example the church date still being 1746 but the historical date being 1747. So I think your date would officially be 27th January 1746 in the church year of 1746 running from 25th March 1746 to 24th March 1747. Notify Administrator about this message?
