The Johathan Greaves who married Miss Bedford, who has brothers Robert Smith Greaves and Decatur Greaves , sister Mary E. Greaves who married Joseph Watson Nelson, were the children of Joseph D. Greaves (son of Joanathan Greaves who moved to Rutherford Co.,Tn. in 1805 from Lincoln Co. N.C.also owned 3,000 acres in Bedford Co. and soon after 1818 moved to Florence Ala. ) and Virginia Smith, she the daughter of Major Robert Smith and Mary Jarratt.

Joseph Greaves sister, Margaret, married Thomas Jarratt Smith.
Col. John Smith b. 7-16-1776, brother of Thomas Jarrat Smith and Elizabeth Smith, married Jane (Virginia) Carter Farris.
Thier daughter United America Carter Smith b. 10-12-1798 marries William Hunter Smith(not related), son of Bennett Smith.
William Hunter Smith's mother was the daughter of Gen. Joseph Dickson.
I thought I had noticed a Dickson posting.
Also have Cowan in this line.

Some Greaves changed spelling to Graves once in Tennessee.

A letter written by Decatur Greaves dated July 16 1851, from Brushy Creek, Williamson Co., Tx., 16 miles from Austin stated he was married and had two sons, Jonathan and William Erastus. The letter was addressed to Samuel Weakley of Florence, Ala. who settled the estate of his sister, Adeline Graves.
