Hi Jane!
I am related to the Greatrakes of Callow as well.
The oldest relations I know of are:
Anthony GREATRAKES (b. Abt 1603-Callow, d. Dec. 1680, bur. 28 Dec.. 1680-Wirksworth)
m. (2 Nov. 1652-Wirksworth)
Helen KEYES (b. Abt 1607-Callow, d. Mar. 1685, bur. 14 Mar. 1685-Wirksworth)
Parents of:
Robert Gytrack GREATOREX (b. 1627-Callow, chr. 8 Apr. 1627-Wirksworth,d. 1694/5-Callow, bur. 1695-Callow)
m. (15 Aug. 1660-Darley Dale)
Maria (Mary) CLAY (bur. 31 Mar. 1688-Wirksworth)
Parents of:
William Greatorex (b. Abt 1650-Callow, d. Nov. 1728-Callowsear(?), bur. 6 Dec 1728-Callowsear(?))
m. (Abt 1672-Derbyshire)
Mary (b. -Wirksworth, d. Aft 1728)
My family tree then goes to Ashley Hay (late 1600's-mid 1700's), Winster (mid 1700's-late 1700's), Brassington (late 1700's-mid 1800's), Elton (1846), Winster (1870-late 1800's), all in Derbyshire. Then it goes to the district of Basford in Nottinghamshire in the late 1800's and through to 1929, which is when my grand mother was born, and of course the Greatorex name has stopped in my family tree because she is female.
