Greathouse Lineage Originating in South Dakota 1800's

I know my great-grandfather James D. Greathouse was born in South Dakota Aprox. early 1800's. We have a hereditary history of Deafness. We do have Indian blood. I'm just trying to find out more detail for myself and my family. I would like to know where I truley come from. Hlp me Pls. Thank You.
