Robert - I read your message (a couple of years too late, unfortunately) about your great great grandfather William Henry Greathouse. Your e-mail address is no longer valid, so I'm hoping this will come to your attention at some point and that you'll communicate with me about him.
William Henry Greathouse is the name that has been passed down in my family as the father of John Satterfield Greathouse, who was my great-great-grandfather. John Satterfield Greathouse was born about 1841 in KY. He married Nancy Jane Cofer in Elizabethtown, Hardin Co. KY about 1869. He was working as a farmer in Hardin Co. at the time of the 1880 Census. In later life, he became a travelling Baptist Preacher. He died at my grandmother's home in Bowling Green, KY April 19, 1912.
Do you know anything about the children of your William Henry Greathouse? Does the name "Satterfield" appear in your family history anywhere? It's such an unusual middle name that I thought it might be the maiden name of John's mother or another female relative.
