My problem is, that I have Ambrose & Alice's son Capt. William Grayson as married to Ann Smith & a listing of six children. In 1818 when Wm. sold land to a grandchild it lists only five children & his will lists only four children. Then William & Eleanor as married with a listing of six children one being Joel. Obvious something is not right. I see that in the 1810 census for Madison Co VA. Joel & a William Grayson live next to each other. Capt. William Grayson died in Albemarle Co. So, I think Joel's father is still a mystery. I would like to find William Grayson land deeds & will in Madison Co. There is a William Grayson listed in Madison Co in the 1820 census. I have William & Capt. William died in 1829. Such a puzzle. Thank you, for answering Bette
