I did find this under a Jesse Goodwin-and another Jesse G born the same year as yours-which may be all one person- This one is Peter Butts son Jesse G. Butts is probably Jesse Goodwin Butts Jr., grandson of Thomas Clements Butts (Peter, Thomas, Peter). See my other postings. Hancock Co GA 1850 census lists: Jesse G. Butts age 58 b. VA; Henry G. 26 b. GA; Mary J. 21 GA. Washington L. 17 GA;Sarah Ann 13 GA; Judith H. 11 GA; Jesse G. 9 GA; Martha 7 GA; Henry J. 6 GA Hancock Co GA 1860: Jesse G. Butts 68 Planter; Jesse 20;Sarah2;Eliza 21; Mary 18; Harriet 14 Jesse Sr married Sarah Jernigan. The memoir of Arthur I. Butts written in 1899 says "Jesse G. Butts Jr. the son of Jesse G. Butts is now living at the old Thomas C. Butts homestead" which he said was in Washington Co(1791) Greene and Hancock Co as the county lines changed. Jesse G. Sr was a brother of my Frederick Butts b. 1779 VA. The Goodwin name apparently through their mother Sarah Funt Butts' family. Hancock Co Soundex 1880: Jesse G. Butts 40; Mollie E. (wife)34;( Mary Hall d. 1882);Anna 8; Laura 6; Louis 4; Otto 2 Jesse G. Butts 88 Va; Mary A. Gregory 51 (dau); Sallie E. Gregory 20 ( gdau); Sallie E. Butts 40 (dau); Hunt J. Butts 38 (NR) Thomas C.
