Hello,
I have a copy Johannes Grebiels Will of 1766,
with his signature, he signed it as Johannes Grebiel, his son John Graybill was also Johannes Grebiel, the KROEBIEL tombstone is a recent addition, not the original, I have a copy of John Graybills Will too, he did not sign as KROEBIEL
Jacob Kraybill was not John Graybill's brother. Jacob is not mentioned in the Will of Johannes Grebiel of Manheim Township. d. Sept.1766 Johannes also warranted his land at Manheim in August of 1734, he did not come in 1754 either. This has been proven by Land records, John Graybill was taxed on this land at Manheim he rec'd from his father Johannes Grebiel, he sold this land before his move to Buffalo Valley in 1774.
According to the Emigrants book, Jacob Kraybills father was Peter Krehbiel, brother of Johannes Grebiel, Peter Krehbiel immigrated on the ship "Patience" in 1753 and died soon after. Jacob Kraybill also resided at one time on land next to Peter Grebiel, son of Johannes Grebiel. Peter Grebiel stayed on Johannes land which he received from the Will of 1766. John his brother migrated to Snyder County, Peter stayed home, Peter married Susanna Lay.
John Graybill was born August 17, 1735 in Lancaster County, PA. There is a connection to Jacob Kraybill, John Graybill and Jacob Kraybill were cousins, not brothers !!
Jacobs father was Peter Krehbiel, brother of Johannes Grebiel.
Noah Zimmermann has always disagreed with Spencer Kraybill that John and Peter Grebiel/Graybill were brothers to Jacob Kraybill. Johannes Will proves that Jacob was not a son. There are still descendants of Peter Grebiel and Susanna Lay
,they had a son, Peter and daughter Susanna Graybill, I'm in contact with Peter Graybills descendant. There is a lot of Graybill/Grebiel and Kraybill Family confusion
If you'd like more on this write me at [email protected]
Thanks, Marty Graybill
