obit for Laura DaCamara"She was born in Corpus Christi seventy-three years ago.Spent all of life in south Texas. She died at her home in Laredo at the corner of Market Street and Seymour Avenue at 11:30 P.M. She was survived by her two sons, J.B. and Harry G. of Laredo. Also by her brother Charles K. Gravis of San Antonio and three half brothers. Mr. Lawrence H. Gravis did not attend the funeral. Mr. Charles K. Gravis of San Antonio and his brothers Lawrence D. Berry, and Harrison L. Berry left Wednesday for Corpus after the funeral of their sister Laura."
A. J. Condren (her son-in-law) called her the "Belle of Baltimore", Maryland. Traveled with her husband to Maryland, accompanied by her children Mary and Harry after 1878 and before 1882. Last child, Bernie, was born in Maryland in 1882. Became a widow in 1883. Traveled back to Corpus Christi to her family. In the 1900 census she was still head of household.
She received income from rental houses. Her sister Hettie lived with her as a spinster at the age of 48. As Harry and Brenie moved to Laredo, she followed them.There she purchased property.Upon the death of her daughter, Mary (Mamie), she moved in with A. J. Condren. While living with A. J., she was 72 years old.Her granddaughter (Mary Condren) was 11 and grandsons ( Joe and John) 6 & 16.
