Hello Gravely's,
I'm the only child of George Ofphero Gravely
He was from Martinville Va. I beleived his father name is John Robert Gravely and his mother name was Pauline I'm not really sure.
My dad {George}was born November 18 1909 in Gravelytown Va his mother die after the delivery of my father.George had five older sisters Leanna,Essie,Janeie,Sue,Pearl and a stepsister name Cleopatra. He also had one stepbrother name Curtis Gravely. In 1970 my dad took me to Martinville Va. to introduce me to my kinfolk, the only names that I can remember was Rufus Hodges who own a service station and store,the Nance family,and a real old couple with the last name of Peyton or Payton who lived on top of a mountain they had cherry trees on top of that mountain along with snakes. The old couple was light complexed with white hair.My father call him uncle Peyton.I hope that someone reconize some of these people, exspecially my dad.By him having me at the age of 52 and die at the age of 73 in 1982 and I was 23 and I didn't realize until his body was being removed from the hurst that I didn't know my father's family history ,I always wonder, now about my name"OFPHERO" Its his middle name and he pass it to me .Do anyone have any ideal where this name came from?
