Joseph Barbeau (Joseph - Marie Falardeau) married Marie-Amable Gravel (Guillaume - Marie-Amable Laporte dite Saint-Georges) at St. Francois-de-Sales Catholic Church, Laval, Ile Jesus, Quebec on 1 Feb 1796. Source: Bergeron & Binette, Mariages de la Paroisse de St. Francois-de-Sales, Ile Jesus (1702-1981), page 4, marriage #67; Montreal, Editions Bergeron, 1983; available on microfiche from the lending library of the American-French Genealogical Society, Woonsocket, RI, series MTL 168 (gives date and place of marriage and parents' names).

Marie-Amable Gravel died 18 Feb 1858 in L'Announciation parish, Oka, Deux Montagnes County, Quebec, at age 85, and was buried there two days later. Her burial record says she was the widow of Joseph Barbeau, so he predeceased her. Source: parish records of L'Announciation Catholic Church, Oka, Deux Montagnes County, Quebec; page 6 for 1858, burial record #10 for 1858; available on LDS FHL microfilm #1754258.

Oka is on the north shore of the Ottawa River about 18 miles southwest of Montreal.
