Hello Darren,

Is your grandfather Ronald Gravel b: 20 Mar 1911 d: 16 Aug 1989 Springfield, MA SS#017-01-0335

You could write to Social Security to get a copy of his application, it may include his parents names, could include other pertinent information in your search.

Sometimes family lore is true. Being of Indian descent was not a thing to be proud of so if he said he had Indian blood than he more than likely was!! My grandmother was of Indian ancestry and it is not really an easy thing to research but it is becoming easier with more information being provided on-line. My Gravel are of Indian blood in MN, I have gotten some information on them by searching the BLM (Bureau of Land Management) records (they do state if the land was Indian grant).

I do have a lot of Gravel information but do not have your Ronald listed (in either the connected or unconnected) data bases I maintain. I would appreciate your family information to add as I do share all!
