Hi, I know a little about Ira, but I did not know the Gold Mine info.

He was one of 10 children of George Gravatt (1813-1890) and his 2nd wife Margaret Ellis Lipscomb (1828-1900). They are all buried at the Fredericksburg Municipal Cemetery. George was a carriage maker.

I do not believe Ira ever married. His twin sister, Sally Nelson Gravatt (1860-1946) was librarian in Fred'burg for many years and member of DAR.

1892 Fred'burg City Directory shows Ira living with 2 of his brothers and his mother working the carriage business. 1900 census shows him as a boarder in Newport News, VA, working as a bookkeeper.
