I'm really getting excited over the fact that some of the DNA tests indicate that our Jacob GRASS, Sr. of Augusta Co., VA is probably related to the George CRESS line that David Attride and his bunch are researching.
I'm also excited over the "find" that the wife of your Peter GRASS, son of our Jacob GRASS, Sr. (above) was Mary HEIZER and she lived in Montgomery Co., PA before going to Augusta Co., VA.
In the 1960's through 1980's, while trying to find more records of my KRUMREIN/CRUMRINE family in PA, I searched microfilms of between 200-250 early German church records in that State and MD, VA and some in NC. When I did this,
I made a recipe card file of the churches searched and noted on these cards whether there were others of the German families that I was researching at the time present in each record although I often did not copy the actual record for these "other names".
Because of the connection between the HEIZER and BURK family of Augusta Co., VA and Montgomery Co., PA, I'm planning to take a new look at some of these church records where I found the GRASS, CRESS, KRESS names again. Here are the churches where I found these names, but did not copy the information.
I plan to begin ordering and searching these records for the GRASS,CRESS, KRESS (and any other spelling that I can imagine) and would welcome some help in this. If anyone is interested in helping and either has a microfilm reader or access to one, please contact me and get the particulars. Most county libraries have microfilm readers where one can go and read films. The Evangelical and Reformed Historical Society (ERHS) lends their films by mail directly to you; but the FHL (Family History-Mormon Library) only sends the films to their branch libraries and you can read them there on their machines.

This week, I'm going to order the film of the Montgomery Co., PA church closest to Skippack where the HEIZER's lived.
