It is very likely that Matthew Grant, or Graunt as he spelled it, left England on the "Mary and John" in 1630 bound up the Charles River.They were dropped of at the mouth of the river at what they later called Dorchester in the Colony of Massachusetts.It is also very likely that he was living in Devon, England prior to his departure for the New Colonies.This in no way detracts from the fact his ancestry is rooted in Scotland.
