I am looking for further information on James Grant, who was born ca. 1805 in Adairsville, Logan County, Kentucky. He was married to Elizabeth Mefford on January 1833, daughter of Jacob MEFFORD and Susan HUDLOW. She was born ca. 1815 in Adairsville, Logan Co., Tennessee and died in Ohio Co., Kentucky.
According to the Muhlenberg County Census of 1850, James GRANT was 45 years old, at the time, and was living in Kentucky. He was a farm laborer. His wife was 37 years old and was from Tennessee. Their children were as follows:
Jacob, who was also a farm laborer, living in Kentucky, and he was 17 years old.
William, who was 12 and living in Kentucky.
Susan, who was 10 and living in Kentucky.
Alexander, who was 8 and living in Kentucky.
Daniel E. GRANT, who was living in Kentucky and was 5.
In 1865, the census shows that James was 60, and Elizabeth was 60. There William was 23, Alexander was 16, Daniel was 12 and (2) more kids were added: Rachael, who was 10 and Duff who was 6.
Jacob Grant, son of James Grant, was born ca. 1833 in Kentucky and was married to Elizabeth A. WISE on April 22, 1857 in Ohio County, Kentucky, dau. of Levi WISE and Bettie HUNTER. Elizabeth A. WISE was born in 1831.
Jacob and Elizabeth GRANT had issue: William Newton GRANT, who was married to Cordelia DEXTER. William Newton Grant was born October 5, 1859 in Greensville, Muhlensbeg County, Kentucky and died Apirl 16, 1948 in Greenville, Muhlenberg County, Kentucky. He was married 1stly to Cordelia DEXTER on the 8th (?) of December 1880 in Waxahachie, Ellis Co., TX and she was born June 10, 1869 and died October 28, 1911. He was married again, but that doesn't matter because that's not my line.
