I have the following:
Samuel Alfred Swanson, 87, of Moline died in the Lutheran Hospital where he had been a patient since Thursday. He had several strokes since February1954 and had been bedfast since that day. Mr. Swanson was born January 19, 1874 in South Byron, New York and in 1881 he moved with his family to Port Byron, where he attended schools. Mr. Swanson was employed as a clerk in the shipping room at the Augustana Book Concern for 20 years, retiring on September 1, 1946. He moved to Rock Island from the Port Byron area in 1896. He married Pearl Grant on October 9, 1913 in Burlington, Iowa. Mrs. Swanson was a member of the Lutheran Church for 47 years. Surviving are the widow, a daughter, Mrs. John M. Carlson of Moline, three sisters, Mrs. Josephine Peterson of Moline, Mrs. Elizabeth Bloomquist of Rockford, and Mrs. Anna Ruth of Buchanan, Michigan, two nieces and three nephews. One sister preceded him in death. Pallbearers were Alfred Bloomquist, Armour Bloomquist, Delbert Bloomquist, Robert Grant, Harold Broquist, and Harold Swanson.

Alfred Swanson, head of the cotton department at Fisk and Loosly Company of this city and Pearl Elfreda Josephina Grant, the daughter of Mrs. Josephina Grant of Burlington were united in marriage Thursday morning at the home of the bride's parents. The Reverend Alfred Appel officiated and only immediate relatives were guests. The service was read in the living room, which had been prettily decorated in greenery, and the bridal couple was unattended. The bride was gowned in white embroidered robe with lace trimmings and she carried bridal roses. Following the serving of the wedding supper, Mr. And Mrs. Swanson left on a short wedding trip and will later be at home in Moline. Mrs. Swanson's traveling suit was of dark blue material. And her hat was of the same color. The bride lived for many years in Rock Island and will be heartily welcomed here. Both are well known to large circles of friends in the Tri-Cities.
