My great grandfather was William Grant Scott. His name honored HIS great grandfather William Grant, a British Army Captain who led his company up Bunker (Breed's) Hill in the American Revolution. He reached tho top safely, but his friend Lt. McCoy was badly wounded and as he died in Grant's arms muttered,"Take care of Molly and the children"!!Grant returned to England after the war; he found Molly McCoy--and took care of her--married her and adopted the two children. They then immigrated to Nova Scotia, where Grant received an excellent parcel of land near Penobscot. They had two more children and moved to Guysborough where my grand father was born. He moved to Melrose near Boston where my father was born.

Could William Grant be related to your Daniel Grant??
Get back to me about this
Cheers--Norman M Scott, Jr., MD (I am nicknamed for my grandfather Jairus Hart Scott)
