Thank you Christine. I have found no George Grant in 1810 census for Ticonderoga. I do find one in Albany and another in Duanesburgh, however do not have a clue if these are mine. In 1820 I find a George Grant, however I'm not sure if this is the father or the son. Let me explain. According to the article in the Ticonderoga Sentinel, it states that George Grant came to Ticonderoga in 1804. He was born in 1794 which would indicate that he was 10 yrs old on his arrival in Ticonderoga. The 1820 census indicates 1 male in the household of George Grant ages 26 to 45. Another relative and I disagree as to whether this male is George Grant who eventually married Phebe in 1821 or, whether he is the father of the 1794 George Grant, is also named George Grant and is just under 45 yr age break. In this census record of 1820, there are a total of six males, 2 between 10-16, 1 between 16-18, 2 between 16-26 and 1 between 26-45. Other than the death/burial information I have on George Grant bn 1794, I can find no George Grant death/burial information in the Ticonderoga area. The 1830 census information indicates our "1794" George Grant, Phebe Miller Grant (his wife), three of their children, an older woman (of 50 and under 60) which I presume to be George's mother, and one male (15-20) either one of George's brothers or a hired hand. 1840 & 1850 census for George Grant (my gg-grandfather) & George King Grant (my g-grandfather) are not confusing at all. The article in the Ticonderoga newspaper indicates that the iron ore forge was operated from 1814-1834. In 1814, George (bn 1794) would be 20 years old - not impossible to own/operate an iron ore forge, but I'm rather skeptical. He served in the War of 1812. Phebe applied for and received a pension. Hopefully I have not thoroughly confused you. If I have, please just give me a yell and I'll try to make it clearer. Lorna Notify Administrator about this message?
