Hello Rhona, I'm sorry to have been so long in replying. The season got in the way. I found roughly where your people come from in Banffshire which is about 20 odd miles due east from my husbands home territory. Back in the late 1700s and early 1800s that was a long way. The earliest Grant I have is James Grant m. Elspeth Black and had James Grant in 1792. Your 4G Grandfather, married in 1812, could be about the same age as James Grant 1792. We don't know where James (1) came from or if he had brothers, one of whom could be your 5G Grandfather for all we know. James (2) had Alexander James - my husband's line - James and Isabella. From here on I have a pretty good family tree. Did you see Liz Kell's message #6362 posted as a reply to my posting #6349? This was about Grants from Banffshire too. Marilyn
