Hi Kathy,
Thank you for responding to my message on the Grant family. My husband's great grandmother Mary Elizabeth Grant Kennard was born June 25,1836 and died July 16.1910. I believe she was born in Ohio and reportedly she was first cousin to U.S.Grant. U.S. Grants father Jesse owned a tannery in Lewis Co.Ky and had other business interest there so it is possible. She did have a brother named William, but if any of them came from New Orleans none of us have heard anything about it. Peter Grant, Jesse Grants brother. married Permilia Bane from Lewis Co. and he is buried in Mason Co.,Ky in Maysville. It is a puzzle trying to work it out.
