Graney or Greaney near Dingle
Posted by: Thomas Graney (ID *****1592) Date: March 03, 2009 at 12:59:50
  of 10

My great grandfather, Thomas Graney (or Greaney) came to Lawrence Mass in about 1892 probably with his 2 sons, Thomas (born 1872), who was my grandfather, and James (born in 1880) and a daughter, Mary (don't have her birthdate). He was born in about 1850 and the only mention of his home in Ireland was that he was from Dingle. We've tried to trace him on the Irish end, but have so far struck out between church records in Dingle and nearby towns. There don't seem to be any Graney's in the Dingle area now, but there are Greany's and Greaney's which I suspect is the same name. Does anyone have any hints on other Irish sources to look into. For instance, I have no hint about my great grandmother's name or whether she ever came to the states.
