Charles LeMarquis was baptized 04 Nov 1648 (Feast of St.Charles day) Montague-sur-Sevre France at the parish of St-Pierre. Old province of Poitou (now dept of Vendee)
Died 22 Dec 1700 Quebec City,PQ
He was the s/o Charles LeMarquis & Jeanne Bignon

Philippe Marquis s/o Jos.Marie Marquis & M.Francoise Cote
m.05 Sep 1796 Andreville,Kamouraska County,PQ (St.Andre)
married Marie-Salomee Greme-Grant
d/o Michel Greme-Grant & Margurrite Gueret-Sumont

So as you can see the name is Greme dit Grant
or Greme (so called Grant
I hope this fixes things, I wrote a book on this Marquis
family called The Decendants of Charles LeMarquis of which
I still have copies for sale (e-mail me)
