I'm searching for information about my great great grandmother, Wilhelmine Grammit Wiese and her brother William/Wilhelm Grammit. I've been told that their surname of Grammit was anglicized from something else but the closest I've been able to find is Gramittsch.
Wilhelmine was born March 27, 1849. We were always told she was born in Germany but I've now been told that both of the surnames, Grammit and Wiese are Prussian names.
Wilhelmine married August Wiese in Europe and they had their children there and then immigrated to the US sometime in the mid to late 1880's.
Any help on this family or these surnames would be greatly appreciated.
