Emil Einar Gram b. 1892, Copenhagen, DK

This is my father and he was born July 13, 1892. He was #3 of 4 children born to William Victor & Marie Caroline Kirstin Pederson Gram in Denmark. His siblings included: Victor (Viggo) b. abt. 1887; Elmer Constantin, b. Sept. 19 1889; and Hilga, b. abt. 1894. My dad, Doc, to all who knew him, and my uncle Elmer were the only ones to come to this country. We figure that Elmer came first and a few years later my dad followed. They lived somewhere in Iowa on a farm with an uncle. Could be a brother to my grandmother.
My father said he came over on the Lusitania. We have a picture of him in this country at age 17, so that places him in USA by 1909.
Other clues include a post card from "cousin Myrtle Peterson" and pictures of her and her son "Freeman". Some postmarks are Marcus, Iowa, and Cherokee, Iowa. There are also photos from Sioux City Iowa Studio.
My father and uncle worked on "the good road". I think this was an FDR project designed to put people to work during the depression. Anyway, they ended up in TX where my uncle married Martha Jane Cameron, Aunt Mattie, in about 1923. They had no children. My dad married Opal Marie Cameron in 1934. She was Aunt Mattie's niece. I am #2 of 5 children. 1 lives in California; 3 live in TX and 1 lives in NE.
My father was married before he married my mother. Her last name was Shaffer(sp.?). Her first name could have been Edith, Edna, or Etta. My father said there were no children by this marriage but there seems to be some question on this. The location of this marriage is unknown (Iowa/Texas?)
At this point I could use some direction. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance!
Anita Berry
