Lois, sorry I'm just now seeing your query. There is no documentation that can verify the parents of John Grainger Sr. that I know of. One theory, of which I prefer, is that John's parents were Samuel Grainger and Carolina (unk) of Horry County. Samuel's will listed 10 children, which included a son, John born before 1765. There are so many reasons to believe this is John Sr., John's first son being named Samuel is just one of them. Dr. Muriel Hanna and I put together a book a few years back that gave all the information that I had at that time. I have been researching the Grainger history since the early '60s and have tons of information. If I can be of any help please let me know.
