Christine,
The years match up with the 'generations' in our line.
We are finding the identical naming pattern (amongst the fmailies of at least nine who grew to adulthood) in FIFE, LANARK, AYRSHIRE and DUMFRIESHIRE.
My grandfather served in the US NAVY as a flyer in WWI and WWII in England, and he visited amongst our Grahams, along the road from Edinburgh to Glasgow.
The original GRAHAM clan, per the maps, hailed from just above the road...perhpas Stirlingshire?
We were so LIMITED when we looked for ONLY the line of our ONE name who had nine children...
Then, just days ago, a man sent an email from a GRAHAM message board stating his Euphemia, b 1820, had a younger brother James (my line) who lived in Carroll, IA when she passed away in 1901.
He said they were raised, and Euphemia married in Kilmarnock, 1840 to a Thomas Stevenson.I was so excited, as I thought it would be easier to search than through the HOST of GRAHAM names, however the joke was on me...there were MORE Stevenson in that line than GRAHAM family in Kilmarnock!Ah, the "little details" of the process!
Right away family members said, "OK...back to the full on Kilmarnock search..." and they each married, required housing & land, and 'spread out' from each other...so, the puzzle pieces are coming together...
AND...there is a full family with the same family line in names, from FIFE, born in the same time frame.
When I searched the IGI for James GRAHAM, born to Robert & Jennie, I found FOUR possibles, and only two had large families, in FIFE and WIG(s)TOWN.
Feel free to keep the email address handy! And, BE ENCOURAGED!
Sheila
Graham line
