Mr & Mrs Zenas Graham's obits, Attica Michigan
Found this obit in an old newspaper clipping scrapbook my great grandmother made. There are no dates, but I'm thinking many are from the early 1900 - 1920. They are mostly from the local Lapeer County Paper.
AN AGED COUPLE GONE
Died, at his home in Attica township, Wednesday, Jan 6, 1892, Zenas Graham, of la grippe, aged 86.Mr Graham was born in Hamilton, Madison county, New York, March 1, 1805.He was married to Leonora Dean of Sangerfield, Oneida county, New York, May 27, 1829.Their union was a very happy one, and of long duration, being 63 years. This is worthy of note as it seldom occures. His wife survived him only 58 hours.Their marriage was blessed with four children, one dying in infancy, three of them, all daughters, are now living, and were with their parents when they died.
In September, 1847, the deceased moved with his family to Twonsend, Huron county, Ohio, where he resided until Sept, 1868, when he moved to Attica. His youngest daughter moved to Michigan in 1867, leaving two older ones in Townsend.Last November the two daughters from Ohio came to spend the winter with their aged parents, feeling as they came that it would be their last visit with them in their declining years.Mr. Graham had been a member of the M.E. church for upward of 65 years. He and his entimable wife were as fine an old couple as we have ever met.
______________________________________
Mrs. Graham was born in Weatherfield, Windham county, Vermont, August 26, 1811, and died at her home in Attica, Michigan, Jan 9, 1892.She was a woman of amiable disposition and had many friends. As a wife she was very affectionate and faithful in her attentions to the last. She lingered around the bed of her dying husband until strength failed her and she was obliged to give up.As a mother she was kind and loving and she will be cherished in the memory of her children for many years to come.
The funeral of this aged couple was held at the Methodist church Monday afternoon, Rev. J G Sparling conducting the services. It was largely attended and was a most touching scene.
(The editor of the TIMES is indepted to Rev. J G Sparling for most of the above concerning Mr & Mrs Zenas Graham.)
I hope this is helpful to someones search.
