Graf Family of Lucas County, OH (Waterville and Providence Twp.)

I'm researching the Graf family that originated in Lucas County, OH specifically in the town of Waterville and as farmers in Providence Township, near the town of Grand Rapids. My great-great-great grandfather is Johann Carl Theodor Graf (may be known as Karl J. Graf), who was born in Gaildorf, Wurrtemberg, Germany in 1821. He later moved to the village of Westheim and married Caroline Sumser (may be known as Unser). They had 9 children in Germany, 1-7 born in Westheim, 8-9 born in the village of Steinbruck. Children whose names were changed in U.S. are given by American names:

1. Friedrich Ludwig Graf, born 1858, died 1861 Westheim.

2. Charles Lewis Graf, born 1859, died 1922 Waterville.

3. Louise Charlotte Graf, born 1861, died ? in U.S.

4. Conrad Graf, born/died 1863 Westheim.

5. Charlotte Graf, born/died 1864 Westheim.

6. Rosine (Rose) Graf, born 1865, died ? in U.S.

7. Frederick Lewis Graf, born 1867, died 1961 Edon, OH

8. Henry Graf, born 1869, died ? in U.S.

9. Herman Frederick Graf, born 1870, died 1958 Tampa, FL

The Graf family immigrated to the U.S. in May and June of 1871. The immediately settled in Ohio (likely in Lucas County from the outset). There they had two more children:

10. Emil David Graf, born 1871, died 1961 in ?

11. Sophia Graf, born 1874, died ? in U.S.

The Graf family is listed in the 1880 Lucas County Census. The family is intact except for Henry, who may have died in the intervening 9 years, but he definitely immigrated. The family eventually settled down as farmers in the area.

Charles moved to Waterville and became apprentice to a blacksmith, a trade he picked up and turned into a well-known town business. He married Rosina Sophia Ullrich of Waterville in 1886 and had 7 children: Carl Ulrich, Mena Caroline, Albert Frederick, Bertha Julia, Marie Rosina, Ernest Otto, and Charlotte Pauline. Carl Ulrich Graf is my great-grandfather.

Frederick married Eliza Amelia Brown and lived alternately in Waterville and Providence Township for most of his life. His children are Walter L., Jessie Mae, Leroy William, Glenn F., and Bernita.

Herman (aka Harmon) lived in Providence Township for most of his life. He married Lurey E. Heller and had Edith, John Otto, Jennie, Mary, Louis H., and Helen.

Emil married Adell G. Condon. They lived in Lucas County for most of their lives as well, though seem not to have always stayed in one place there. Their children are Raymond F., Eva Mildred, Caroline Adell, Doris Helen, Martin R., and Emil David (Jr ?). Some of these children seem later moved to California and Arizona.

I know nothing about the families of the Graf daughters since I don't know the names of their husbands. Anyone who knows anything about them, I would greatly appreciate your help.

At some point, there is a Graf connection to Little Rock, AR, since I have a record of a Henry Gottlieb Graf, born 1882 in Little Rock and connected somehow to my Grafs. I don't know exactly where he comes in. He married a woman named Lillian (last name unknown) and had two children, Paul, and Ruth (married name Rideout). Again, anyone who can help me attach this family to the right branch, your help would be most welcome.

That said, I would love to get in contact with anyone related to these Grafs. Please send me an e-mail or respond to this post. I'd love to hear from new relatives!
