Jan, I am a descendent of the Cape Breton Gracie family, but I haven't found any links to the Archibald Gracie line. The first Archibald Gracie emigrated from Scotland in 1784, and the first "Cape Breton" Gracie (Emmanuel)first shows up in Prince Edward Island around the same time. Although there were once rumors that they were brothers, I haven't found any proof, and circumstances indicate that he probably wasn't...Emmanual was a Loyalist (a Private in one of the provincial armies) who was granted land in PEI in 1783. His three sons and widow settled in Cape Breton about the time of (or shortly after) his death, around 1795. Was your great-grandfather named Benjamin Gracie? I was trying to determine the connection.
Deb
