Thanks for your reply. There has never been many Gracey families in the Liverpool/Birkenhead area so we may be related somewhere down the line! My father Peter Gracey born in Birkenhead 1939 has looked into the family tree briefly and has been in contact with a branch of the family form Plymouth. My grandfathers brother Nelson Gracey disappeared at a young age and was never heard of again. From contact with a Gracey from plymouth it appears that he joined the navy and began a family down there. Anyway back to the Merseyside part i have a copy of the birth certificate of my great grandfather Isaac Gracey born in Birkenhead 16th August 1876. This is Nelsons father. On the certificate Isaac's parents are James and Mary Ann Gracey formerly Mary Ann Fowler. If they were approximately 25 at the age of Isaac's birth they would have been born about 1850ish! My grandfather was Sidney Stanley Gracey born 1913. Isaac was married to a Matilda Yates but we belive he remarried but dont have any further details. This may be were a link between our families occurs.
As my addition to the Gracey family is due in 2 weeks I do hope you can help me in my quest to trace my ancestors, and I also hope there is a link between us so I can help you. Please keep in touch.
