Donald Forrest Grace passed away tonight 06 Feb 2009.
He was Born 05 Jul 1922 in California.
A wonderful father, devoted husband and a hard worker all his life.
Served in WWW II in the Navy 1941-1945 mostly in Aviation combat crews. Nearly killed in an Unrecognized Medal of Honor combat action in a one sided battle against a German U-boat in a scout observation two man floatplane.
All he had to show from it was a nasty concussion from the crash, two broken legs, broken ribs, flak shrapnel in his face and two machine gun bullet holes in both of his forearms.
The navy after patching him up and getting him well, shoved him out for more without so much as a thank you, until the end of the war.
A proud son at least found how much of a hero his father was in the war before he passed on.
To my father then, I salute a brave man who stood up for his country in World War II, even though that same country denied him his rightful Medal of Honor.
Steven E. Grace
