Walter Grabow? and the Polaris Telescope Shop

I need information about the Polaris Telescope Shop of Dearborn, Michigan. The data is for an article in my local astronomy club newsletter entitled "A SAMPLING OF TELESCOPES FOR THE AMATEUR ASTRONOMER--PART 13." The article is slated for publication in the January 2006 issue. I was told that the proprietor of the shop was a Walter Grabo or Grabow. The shop was supposedly in business in the 1960s, and catered exclusively to the amateur astronomer.

I have had two telescopes from his shop, both purchased on the secondary market. One was a small 40mm refractor, the other a 60mm. Mr. Grabow imported Unitron refractors from Japan and then placed his company's name on the nameplate.

I need to find out from an existing family member a little bit more about the history of Mr. Grabow and his astronomy shop. Looking at the LDS database I found a possible match: Walter Grabow, born 26 Sep 1913, died Jan 1987. This would place him in his 50s when he operated his shop. Please contact me at the email address given. Any help is appreciated, and the facts as reported will be included in my two-page astronomy article. jseybel2@hotmail.com
