Do you know of the artist? I sure hope so. As I said in my query, I've hunted for years for some information on this sculptor.
The work is small, 7 3/4 inches tall including a 3/4" round rosy marble base. Subject is a young girl with tumbling curls on her shoulders. A simple dress just below the knee with wide ruffled collar and wide tied sash at waiste. She has socks showing above her high buttoned shoes. She holds a ball in front of her clutched between the fingers of both hands.
Given the clothing style, I would guess she represents a child in the late 1880-1920. I have no idea when the sculpture was made, tho it certainly has a vintage look about it...I would doubt very much if it was a contemporary piece.
There is a 1/2" metal disc label fused onto the back of her dress which is probably copper. It is some type of identification emblem. There is a crucible in center on bed of leaves (representing the foundry, I presume) and "Fabrication Francaise - Made in France" encircling the outer edge with PARIS printed unter center emblem.
The artist's signature is on the metal base behind her feet.
I call her "Emily"...she is a very dear piece I purchased in an antique shop in Laguna Beach probably in the 1960s.
I am hoping that, since you've responded and asked for more details, that you have some knowledge on the artist. Looking forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Anita
