I am related to the Gowers from Gwinnett, GA on my mothers side of the family, anything before that I am unsure of. I currently live in Henrico, so I was interested to find out that the Gower family once lived here and followed up on them a bit closer last year. Unfortunately, It seems that everyone named Gower back then had a child named Abel and no one seems to know exact dates.

seems to have lots of records from Henrico Co. in the early days listed in the William and Mary Quarterly. You may need to find a library close to you that works with JSTOR to access these files, but I have found quite a bit by google search.
