Bruce Allen Gower, 52, of Greenville, S.C., went to be with the Lord Nov. 1, 2006, at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville, S.C.
Bruce was born May 26, 1954, in Union City, Ind., son of Shirma (Davis) Pence of Greenville and the late Richard E. Gower. He also was preceded in death by an infant brother.
Surviving are three sons, Drew B. Gower, Nathan D. Gower and Nicholas W. Gower; a brother, Richard E. Gower Jr.; two nieces, Elizabeth and Rebecca Gower; and numerous aunts and cousins.
A memorial service was conducted Nov. 5, at 1 p.m. at Covenant United Methodist Church, Greenville, S.C.
Memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity.
Coach Bruce Gower, wrestling coach, passed away of an aneurysm that burst in the brainon October 31. 2006 and he died Nov 1, 2006. The Riverside community is very saddened at the loss of such a great coach.
Coach Gower was a Silver Level NWCA wrestling coach. Bruce was a two time state champion in Greenville , Ohio . He then wrestled for the Coast Guard Academy and Drexel University where he was an NCAA Division 1 All American. His coaching accomplishments include training several high school state champions, team state championships in Georgia , and Riverside 's fourth place finish in 2004. Bruce is Director for sales for the Agfa Corporation headquartered in Greenville , SC. His involvement in Riverside wrestling began when he moved to Greenville in 1998 with his three sons, Drew, Nathan, and Nicholas, all Riverside graduates.
