My Aunt, Laurette Ellen BARNETT b 5/23/1886 Harlan, Shelby, Iowa married a William GAUER/GOWER pre 1906 in either Harlan or Council Bluffs, Iowa. The BARNETT family owned a small restaurant in Council Bluffs.
Laurette and William GAUER/GOWER had a daughter named Virginia Frances b 10/2/1906 in Iowa. They later apparently moved to Falls City, Nebraska and were located there in 3/1910.
William GAUER/GOWER either died, or divorced Laurette Ellen pre 1918 because she and the daughter were in Stockton, California when Virginia died age 12, 1/3/1918.
At this point Laurette had apparently married an EBBETT and he had adopted the daughter Virginia. She is buried in Colma, San Mateo, California under the name of Virginia Frances EBBETT.
I have no first name for the EBBETT.
Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated.
