Have you checked w your cousin Linda Davis? Best guess on William H is his Mom was Lucy Ann Gowen b. 2-19-1837 d. 12-17-1922. He was probably born out of wedlock. Lucy's Dad was John Gowen, Mother, Hanna Witham. and it goes back frm there to William Alexander Gowen transported to Boston cira 1650, after the battle of Dunbar in Scotland. I've talked to your cousin Linda and am sure she may have additional info. I do have some stuff I can send you. Go Navy, I was on USS Independence CV-62 frm 60-63 and on USS Valcour AVP-55 63-64.
