Last year I was in CT and visited Hurlehigh Gowdy's grave. I was puzzled about his wife Dorothy, who was listed in the 1938 records as being buried with him. The sexton discovered the answer. Hurleligh's gravestone was broken off and the upper section had been stuck in the ground beside the base. When the sexton pulled the stone out of the ground, there was Dorothy's name on the lower half, where it had been buried out of sight.
