Hi Karen,

Half the time I try to enter to post on this site, it won't let me in. Here is my direct email address: cfgpie@comcast.net. Email any time.

What part of the country do you live in? Who is your cousin? Cecil still has to be a small place. I only saw the cemetary when we buried Aunt Ruth in the family plot up there in 1982. Even then, the grave diggers were old timers and had known the family, including my Grandparents, whom I never met.

I just called my sister. She thinks Granddad's first wife was a Mary Banks and the daughter they produced was named Julia, my Dad's half sister.

The Eldridge Elam Gowdy line can be traced right back to Connecticut and the Revolutionary War. We are directly decented from a Hill Gowdy. So, I guess that is where Grandad's people came from. There must be more documentation on his first wife. I just don't have it. My brother and sister most likely know about it.

I think the Gorlin's came from my Grandmother, Frances Hettrick's side of the family. Yes, it is a sad situation for those who inherited it.

Hope to hear from you by direct email.
Sincerely,
Cherry Gowdy
