Yes, I know your William Gowdy's first wife was an Ann Scott, however, it is still possible that John Gowdy's wife, Ann, was a Scott as well -- perhaps a cousin of your Ann. More likely, William Gowdy I's wife was another Ann Scott, or at least a Scott. Who knows??
Anything is possible.
Were you aware of the Washington Co. PA deed in which John and Margaret Finley sell to Robert Gowdy (1815) land Finley bought from a John Scott who was granted a tract by patent in 1787?
