Dianna,

Gideon and Nancy (Allen) Gowdy were my 4th great grandparents. Their daughter Mary Ann was born July 9, 1831 in New York. She married Sylvester Rice in 1860 in White Creek, New York. The Rices claimed a homestead in Bear Lake Twp., Manistee Co. Michigan in 1864. I grew up a mile north of this farm.

Gideon and Nancy Gowdy are listed in the 1850 and 1860 censuses of Columbia Co. New York, and in later Kentucky and Minnesota censuses. They would give their ages, but I have never looked them up so I don't know when they were born. He is not listed in the Mahlon Gowdy family history as a brother of Susan A. (Gowdy) Back. He is not in the book at all.
