My Grandmother Mary Ellen Gowdy Henderson is my subject. She married John L. Galloway. Her father was John A. Henderson who was born in Guernsey Co OH. They moved to Warren Co. IL. Mary Ellen was born in Marysville, Union Co. Oh. 9 May 1857. I had never heard the name Gowdy used in her name before till I read something from John Armstrong Henderson(Mary Ellen"s brother) and he used her name as Mary Ellen Gowdy Henderson. I am trying to find where the Gowdy name came from. In a will of William F. Gowdy the name's of Thomas Henderson Esq and William Scott Henry Ross are there.
If you have any information I would appreciate it. I seem to remember the name Ross connected to the Henderson's.
