Susan A. GOWDY b: ca 1824 in perhaps W. Martinsburg, Lewis Co., NY married W. BACK abt 1840. Had 3 children all born W. Martinsburg, Lewis, NY
Effie BACK b: abt 1842
Frank BACK b: abt 1844
Charles BACK b: 23 Aug 1845
Susan is living with her 3 children w/o a husband in 1850 in Lewis Co., NY. By 1870, she and the children are living in Mitchell Twp., Mitchell Co., IA. The closest GOWDY family members are Gideon S. GOWDY, a Universalist Minister, and his wife Nancy of Freeborn Co., Minnesota.
Susan is probably the daughter of Samuel GOWDY and Nancy Ann WADSWORTH. Does anyone know what the relationship may be between Samuel GOWDY and Gideon S. GOWDY? Any help appreciated.
