Re Govier, Tottington, Lancashire, England: In reply to Beryl Baker message January 07 05 No. 79.

Hello Beryl Baker.
Delighted to read your response & that at last someone else has heard of my great grandfather Simeon Govier & Grandmother Charlotte Louisa Govier nee Woodland. Their Dorset family origins are a complete mystery to me.

To answer your question, my father was Reginald Govier born 25th July 1898 at 24 Hall Street, Walshaw, to parents John Govier and Elizabeth Govier formerly Marsh. I have some knowledge of the 7 you mention and there might well have been even more offsprings for I have come accross 3/4 infant burials whilst checking church local records - where parent details were not always entered.

My parents continued the then Govier tradition of having large families, I am one of six, eldest first being Kenneth, Norman, Maurice, Edward, Beryl, and Colin...

I am anxious to learn the name your g.g. grandmother and of her brother Simeon Govier.

Finally - I am somewhat confused as to the place & date of my grandfather John Govier's Dorset birth but I'm sure this can be veryfied in due course.

So nice to hear from you.

Kind Regards

Edward Govier
