Ruth Ann,
I guess you were pretty surprised to hear from another Bob Winneberger. We pretty much lost track of most of that part of the family after my grandmother died in 1980.The funeral was the last time I saw Bob or any of his brothers. Most of that side of the family were in a lot of trouble and into substance abuse of various kinds, that's why I rarely saw them after I was about 10 or 11 (I was born in 1954).Are you aware that Bob has died?I think it was about 5 years ago, he had apparently settled down in Rock Hill, South Carolina and remarried, I believe he and his second wife had some children.
Actually what lead me to the Grover site was your last name, it turned up while I was doing a search.
I've got a family tree back to about 1800.Basically, my father was one of nine children, all lived to adulthood and six are still alive, our grandparents were Howard and Beulah Merryman Winneberger, Howard was the son of Winfield and Virginia Corbin Winneberger, Winfield's parents were George and Aurela Mason Winneberger (George died in a confererate prison camp in Virginia during the Civil War). His parents were George and Jane Stewart Winneberger. She was born in 1807 in England. The name appears to be Hessian and I think (but haven't yet proven) that we're decended from Hessian mercenaries during the Revolution who stayed after the war.
Send me your email address and I'll send you some more, mine is [email protected]'ll check and see if I have any pictures of Bob when we were young.
