Edward Gove - rebel
I don't want to sound like an elitist, but the story and biographical detail of our ancestor Edward is difficult to understand, and every resource I can find leads back to the same two early sources, the Gove Book, and the historical work on Hampton, NH.Surely there is something else?
These two interdependent accounts leave me wondering whether those two writers were just inept, or our poor Edward was simply incapable of expressing himself, perhaps even suffering from some form of lunacy as suggested by his wife...? Is it just the antiquated writing?
Surely a definitive and readable biography is long overdue... A new work would ideally be based upon a much clearer interpretation of the events in his life than I can find...has anyone else noticed the inadequacies of these early accounts? I have to wonder if Edward's story, and the fact that he pre-empted the Revolution, is so little known because of his and his biographers' inability to express themselves...
