Just in case you are still searching for information on William Thomas Gourley, you may want to look at the book History of Ford County Illinois by E. A. Gardner (Chicago:The S. J. Clarke Publishing Co., 1908).This book has a short biography of a W. T. Gourley and indicates that he was born in 1858 and that he married a Margaret Thomas (daughter of Lewis and Elizabeth Thomas) in 1880 (please see pages 756 – 760).The biography includes a picture.Although the book states that W. T. Gourley was born in Indiana, you still may be interested in looking at this biography.I found this information while looking for information on John M. Gourley (born in 1847, died in 1915).As far as I know, John M. Gourley (my great grandfather) is from a different branch of the Gourley family, but both lived in Ford County, Illinois. Please let me know if you need additional information.
P.S. You may also be interested in looking at the book Historical Atlas of Ford County Illinois (Chicago:J. H. Beers & Co., 1884) which was reproduced by Unigraphic, Inc. (Evansville, Indiana, 1976).There is a map of Ford County’s Brenton Township (page 45) which indicates that a William Gourley apparently owned 80 acres of land in the southern portion of the township.
