Hi,

I was looking for info for Hugh Gourley.
My Great Grandfather was Lee Roy Smith of Hendersonville NC. All of the information that I have is:
Hugh Gourley (but I was told he was born in England - Tutland)
Served in the Revolutionary war
Died at age 84, December 23, 1833
Daughter Catherine was born in Spartanburg S.C. and married Joseph Smith, had a son Solomon Gourley.

Solomon Gourley Smith married Eleanor Love April 8th 1832
They had 7 children and one was my great grandfather, Lee Roy (twin).

My great grandfather donated the land which is now Shepherd's Memorial Park - the former homestead of his parents.

He is buried in Shaw Creek Methodist Cemetery.

Debbie
